The Department of Home Affairs has announced the 10th of September is the last day for state and territory governments to nominate and for invitations to be issued for the subclass 489 visa.
We will be focusing on processing all subclass 489 applications prior to this date. The processing times for subclass 190 applications may become extended during this period.
As the current processing time is up to 12 weeks, we urge all applicants who are ready to apply for a subclass 489 nomination to lodge their applications by early August at the latest.
We cannot guarantee that applications for 489 nomination lodged after early August will be able to be processed before the 10th of September.

Meeting the nomination requirements does not guarantee that you will be offered state nomination from the Tasmanian Government.

the demand for your particular skills and expertise, and your ability to find work in Tasmania
the suitability and transferability of your qualifications, skills and experience – including any specialist capabilities - to the needs of Tasmania’s labour market
your demonstrated ability and commitment to establishing yourself, and any dependants, in Tasmania with a view to your prospects for long-term settlement in the state
number of points claimed in the points test
level of English language competency
genuineness and accuracy of claims put forward in your application.

Unsuccessful subclass 190 applications may also be considered for subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa nomination. If your application is not successful for subclass 190 nomination, we may also consider it for nomination for a subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa. If you would like this to occur you must include subclass 489 as an option in your Skillselect Expression of Interest (EOI). Unsuccessful subclass 190 applicants who fail to include both options will not be nominated for a visa.
