加拿大留学生在读期间工作分为以下几类

Work on campus校内工作

“Work on campus校内工作”指在就读校园内的建筑物内工作,工作时间不限制,无需申请work permit。

如果学校有多个校区,一般情况下只能只允许在学习时间最长的校区工作,除非从事教学/研究助理或者是科研补助金直接相关的工作可以更换校区地点。校内工作的雇主可以是学校,大学教员,学生组织,私营企业,为学校提供校内服务的私营承包商,也可以是自己,比如在校园内经营自己的咖啡馆。在某些情况下,校内工作的雇主并不局限于校内地址,也可以是校外但是与学校有关联的图书馆,医院,研究中心。

Work on campus校内工作需满足条件:

  1. 学习许可中列明可以work on campus
  2. 开始工作时间不能早于学习时间
  3. 全职高等教育院校学生,可以是公立高等院校,魁省同等私立院校,魁省900学时+的DVS或AVS课程,或就读加拿大可以授予学位的私立院校
  4. 合格的学习许可
  5. 有SIN社保号

(在学习许可过期,或者不再全职学习,或处于授权休假时期,或正在申请转学无法学习,这期间不能校内工作。)

You can work on your school campus, without a work permit, if you:

  • are a full-time post-secondary student at a
    • public post-secondary school, such as a college, university, trade or technical school, or CEGEP in Quebec
    • private post-secondary school in Quebec that operates under the same rules as public schools in Quebec
    • private or public secondary or post-secondary institution in Quebec offering qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer leading to a diploma of vocational studies (DVS) or an attestation of vocational specialization (AVS)
    • Canadian private school that can legally award degrees under provincial law (for example, associate degree, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctorate), but only if the student is enrolled in a study program leading to a degree authorized by the province. This may not include all programs of study offered by the private institution.
  • have a valid study permit, and
  • have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Work off campus 校外工作

和校内工作没有时间限制不同,work off campus有明确的时间要求,无需申请work permit。

常规情况下
工作时间不能超过20小时/周;在寒暑假或其他假期,不受小时数限制。

2022留学生特政
自2022年11月15日至2023年12月31日期间,已经在加拿大境内的留学生,或者再2022年10月7日之前递交了学习许可的潜在学生,在学习许可获批赴加后,校外工作不受每周20小时限制。当然也有一些前提条件:1)持有效学习许可且DLI全职学习或在最后一学期兼职学习;2)或加拿大学习许可获批在加拿大境外工作

Who can work more than 20 hours per week off campus

From November 15, 2022, until December 31, 2023, you can work more than 20 hours per week off campus while class is in session if you

  • are a study permit holder and are studying at a DLI full-time (or part-time during your final academic session), OR
  • have been approved for a study permit but haven’t arrived in Canada yet

In addition, you must meet all these requirements:

  • You must ensure we received your application for this study permit (including extensions) on or before October 7, 2022.
  • You must have an off-campus work authorization on your study permit.
  • You must be either in Canada or coming to Canada by December 31, 2023.

Work off campus 校外工作需满足条件:

  1. 学习许可中列明可以work off campus
  2. 开始工作时间不能早于学习时间
  3. DLI院校全职学生
  4. 就读学术项目,职业或专业技术培训项目或魁省中等职业培训项目
  5. 学习时长不少于6个月且是学位,毕业证或证书课程
  6. 有SIN社保号

You can work off campus without a work permit if you meet all of these requirements:

Work co-op student or intern 带薪实习

Co-op全称为Co-operative Education Program,适用于学校教学与企业时间课程,留学生co-op term期间可到和学校有合作的公司或企业实习。需要申请co-op work permit或 intern work permit。

满足以下条件可以申请:

  1. 持有效的学习许可;
  2. 作为学习计划的一部分,需要完成工作
  3. 持院校证明信证明所欲项目学生需要完成工作才能获得学位
  4. Co-op或实习时间不多于学习课程的50%
    ESL/FSL语言课程、普通兴趣班课程以及预备课程期间不符合Co-op工作许可申请资格。

在2022年11月15日至2023年12月31日期间,满足以下条件无需申请co-op work permit

Co-op work permits and off-campus work authorization

From November 15, 2022, to December 31, 2023, you may not need to apply for a co-op work permit. You don’t need a co-op work permit to complete your co-op placement if you meet all of the following conditions:

  • You have a valid study permit and we received your application for this study permit on or before October 7, 2022.
  • Your study permit shows that you’re authorized to work off campus.
  • You’re eligible to benefit from the temporary policy change to work more than 20 hours per week while class is in session.
  • Your co-op placement ends by December 31, 2023.

If your co-op placement ends after December 31, 2023, or if you aren’t eligible for the temporary policy change, you need to apply for a co-op work permit to cover the period after that date. You can begin your co-op placement during this period before you’re issued the permit. Any other employment you have won’t be affected.
