2018年8月2日魁北克移民公布的Regulation respecting immigration to Quebec规定CSQ的有效期为24个月，在此之前，CSQ的有效期是36个月。
在把签证申请资料递交给IRCC时，CSQ必须是有效的。并且从2018年8月2日起，魁省移民局不再给更新任何类别的CSQ。如果在递交签证申请的时候CSQ过期了，申请会因被认为是不完整的而退料。如果联邦移民局签收签证申请资料的时候CSQ有效，直到下签，CSQ都会被认为是有效的。

The program delivery instructions have been updated to provide clarification on the validity of the Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) (Quebec Selection Certificate), as applicable to permanent residence applications destined to Quebec.
The Règlement sur l’immigration au Québec (RIQ), which came into effect on August 2, 2018, specifies that the CSQ issued after the coming into force of the RIQ is now valid for a duration of 24 months or until a decision is rendered on the permanent residence application by virtue of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, S.C. 2001, c. 27.
The CSQ must be valid at the time it is received by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). A CSQ issued before August 2, 2018, maintains its duration of validity of 36 months. If the application was made within the 36-month deadline, the CSQ will be considered valid until a decision is rendered on the permanent residence application.
As of August 2, 2018, the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Diversité et de l’Inclusion will no longer renew CSQs. This applies to all CSQs. If the CSQ validity date has expired in the Global Case Management System at the time a decision is to be taken, officers must manually update the “Valid To” field to the date that is equal to the validity of the medical results.

The CSQ must be valid when the applicant submits an application for permanent residence to IRCC (Centralized Intake Office [CIO] in Sydney). If the applicant’s CSQ expires before the receipt of the application at the CIO, the application is incomplete and must be returned to the applicant. The applicant must submit a new application for a CSQ to MIDI. If the applicant’s CSQ is valid at the receipt of the application at the CIO, the CSQ will be considered valid until a decision is rendered on the permanent residence application by IRCC.
