Technical writers research and write information-based material for articles,
manuals, textbooks, handbooks and other multimedia products, usually for
education or corporate purposes. They draw on a substantial knowledge of a
particular subject, such as the natural or social sciences, engineering, law
or other fields. The work involves the development of information and analysis
to select and present information on the specialised subject in a form and at
a level that is suitable for the intended audience.
Technical writers may spend long days sitting at a computer or phoning for
information. Evening or weekend work may be required when deadlines loom.
